Simona Radu graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1991 from the State University “Carol Davila” Bucharest, became Specialist in Ophthalmology in 1995 and Senior Ophthalmologist in 1999.

She works as a private practitioner and founded her own clinic “EURO-OPTICS” in Bucharest in 2000.
She started contact lens fitting about 30 years ago, with all available soft and rigid lenses on the market. ​

In 2003 she began her relationship with Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, first as Professional Consultant for Romania, responsible for the national Vision Care Academy Program (including hands-on trainings) and later as a Faculty member for The Vision Care Institute and Eye Health Advisor starting from 2006.

She is member of International Association of Contact Lens Educators since 2006, Fellow of IACLE since 2009 and Lifetime FIACLE since 2023.

​She was the first ophthalmologist in Romania to fit orthokeratology lenses in 2006.
In 2012 she received a Doctor’s degree in Medical Sciences at University “Lucian Blaga” Sibiu, Faculty of Medicine “Victor Papilian”, with the thesis: ”Evaluation of therapeutic contact lens performance in the treatment of ocular surface diseases”.
She is presenting papers and lectures in national and international meetings, often as invited speaker, concerning vision correction, contact lens fitting, myopia management, keratoconus and ocular surface pathology.
